PGR Networking Event
We hosted our first networking event in February with the purpose of bringing together Postgraduate Researchers who are interested in health communication, medical humanities and/or arts in health. We wanted to create a friendly and informal atmosphere where postgrads could meet peers with similar research interests from across many different disciplines.
We were joined by Professor Kristina Niedderer (Manchester School of Art), whose guest talk focused on designing for health and Professor Elena Semino (Lancaster University) who presented her work on cancer metaphors. They also both discussed their experiences working on interdisciplinary health-focused projects, and discussed how our work (as academics) can have real-world applications and impact.
It turned out to be fantastic day filled with stimulating and inspiring discussions between PGRs from across many disciplines and we hope it was the start of a blossoming network of postgrads that we will hopefully see again soon.
Thank you to everyone who attended and a special thank you to Kristina and Elena for their wonderful presentations.
